Abstract

20,164. Dantzer, J., and Dantzer, R. Sept. 28, 1910, [Convention date]. Pile fabrics.-Weft pile fabrics are woven by means of two shuttles 1, 2, Fig. 3, the lower one containing the ground weft and the other the pile weft, these shuttles being shot simultaneously through superposed sheds formed in a single warp by raising -the pile-binding threads over the pile weft thread which they secure and also above the ground weft. The loom used is of the type for weaving double-piece plush or moquette. The binding of the first, third, fifth, and seventh weft threads, Fig. 5, which are the ground wefts, is modified and so arranged, as shown, that whenever a binding-thread passes over a pile weft it also passes over the corresponding foundation weft. A part of the ground weft may be used to form a lining on the back side as represented in Fig. 12, which shows a corded velveteen, the weft thread of the lower shuttle forming a double or double-sided cloth. The shuttle 2 may carry a weft formed of two or more threads or a thicker weft than that' carried by the shuttle 1. The fabric may be, woven wrong side up by placing the pile weft thread shuttle underneath the ground weft shuttle, the draft being modified as shown in Fig. 13. In Figs. 5 and 13, the numerals 1-16 indicate the warps.
