6384. Leroux, E. March 14. Pile fabrics.-The pile tufts x in velvet and similar fabrics are inclined at an angle to the plane of the fabric by means of additional warps r, which are disposed over one and under the other of each pair of wefts t adjacent to the tufts, and are maintained straight under tension. The tufts may be inclined in opposite directions in different parts of the same fabric, and, in addition, some may be left in the normal position by disposing, the warps r underneath both the wefts adjacent these tufts. The fabric may be made in a jacquard or other loom, and the velvet may be woven single or double.
