18,539. Haydon, W. T. Aug. 17. Reciprocating - mould - table machines. - A machine for making cattle cakes comprises a series of chambers 1 formed with tapering outlets 2 through which material is forced by rams 6 operated by an eccentric 17. A block 4 arranged beneath the outlets 2 is formed with openings 5 and is so operated by a cam &c. 20 that the openings 5 are in alinement with the outlets 2 during the descent of the rams 6; the block is then moved laterally to sever the material in the openings 5, and is again returned so that the severed cakes are ejected on the next descent of the rams by fresh material expressed through the outlets 2. Material is conveyed from a shoot 9 to the chambers 1 by a reciprocating feed slide 8. Adjustment of the stroke of the rams 6 is effected by packing-pieces 18, an adjustable connecting-rod, or by devices for raising and lowering the shaft bearings.
