Abstract

Steam-generator furnaces.-A downdraught furnace with an inclined grate formed of bars constructed of fire-resisting material is provided with a metal fire-bridge protected by firebricks as shown, and with a deflector I at the back of the closed ash-pit. A blast of air is delivered above the fire by the pipe H and a jet of air may also be deliverd into the uptake, both supplies being induced by a steam jet or otherwise.
