Abstract
16,743. Rotherham, K., and Johnson, W. July 21. Spray carburettors.-The throttle and extraair valves are either formed in one piece, or are connected through a wound-up spring and actuated separately. The fuel nozzle E, Fig. 4, is surrounded by a cup F, the space between the nozzle and cup being supplied with atmospheric air through screws G. The float chamber A has a collar C which is pressed against a shoulder D by a nut D<2>. The throttle valve J, Fig. 5, is actuated by a Bowden wire O, Fig. 4, and lever V, and is connected through a spring N and flange M to an extra-air valve K, which is actuated by a Bowden wire attached to a pin K<3>. A pin L<3> in the cover L works in a slot K<2> in the valve and serves as a stop. Before attaching the valve K to the flange M by screws, the spring is wound up. The outlet to the engine is shown at H<2>, Fig. 5. In a modification, the air and throttle valves are formed in one piece controlled by an axial spring, and an adjustable plate controls the maximum area of the extra-air port.
