Abstract

15,917. Russell, F. W. July 10. Screwdrivers.-Screwdrivers, particularly those actuated by mechanical power, are formed with laterallymovable blades to enable them to engage readily in the nicks of screws that may have been cut slightly out of diametrical position. The blade 5 has a flange or disk 6 and a flat shank 7, which engages in a slot 8 cut in the end of the spindle 9 and is retained therein by means of the pin 10 and slot 11. The spindle may be bored out to receive a spring-pressed plunger 12, and the shank 7 may be formed with an indent to engage therewith in order to retain the blade normally in central position.
