Web-feeding arrangements.-In tally-strip arrangements for taking duplicate records of intermittent entries such as extended totals of accounts, the tally-strip is inked by a separate ink-ribbon. The arrangement comprises the usual stationary platen 25 for the tally-strip 22, which passes from a spool 23 to a take-up spool 24 provided with a feed-pawl 29 which is connected to the release-lever 16 for the main feedrollers 11. Ink-ribbon mechanism.-(1) Feed and manual reversal. The spools 30, 31 for the tally-strip are driven by connexions from the release-lever 16 so that, on each depression of the releaselever, the ink-ribbon and the tally-strip are simultaneously fed. In the arrangement shown, the spools 30, 31 are mounted loosely on the spindle 27 of the take-up spool 24 and are provided with pinions 35, 36 adapted to engage pinions 33, 34 on a countershaft 32, which is driven by the engagement of the pinion 33 with a pinion 37 on the spindle 27. The countershaft may be moved longitudinally to reverse the feed by means of a finger-lever 38 which engages collars 40. (2) Guides. The ink-ribbon passes over the platen 25 transversely to the tally-strip, and is guided in passing from one plane of movement to the other by oblique slots 48; or the slots may be vertical and the ink-ribbon arranged to pass through twisted guide-sheaths.
