Abstract

3917. Harrison, N. W. July 15, 1912. Ink-ribbon mechanism.-In flat-bed duplicators in which the ink-ribbon spools are operated through ratchet-gearing by the movement of the carriage, means of the following character are provided for varying and manually reversing the feed. The spools 8, 9 are geared to pinions 11 operated by pawls 14 on radius-arms 12 adapted to be engaged by the carriage 4, the feed being controlled by a sliding shield 23 which can engage over and thereby prevent operation of either of the radius-arms. The feed of the active spool can be adjusted by sliding the shield and thereby altering the initial position of the radius-arm. The shield is held in the adjusted position by a spring-pressed ball 27 engaging notches in the shield. The pawls are adapted at the end of the feed movement to be disengaged by riding over pins 19. The radius-arms are returned by springs 17 and are provided with stops 22 to prevent over swinging of the pawls.
