Abstract

15,595. Royston, E. R., [Durham Duplex Razor Co.]. July 4. Razors. - Relates to devices of the kind in which a thin replaceable blade is positioned between a supporting- member and a clamping-member, and which are capable of use either as an ordinary or as a safety razor, and in which provision is made for stropping the blade. The clamping - member, which is in the form of a safety guard 4, Figs. 1<a> and 2, or a stropping-attachment 5, Fig. 6, is secured to a strip of metal 6 having one or more offset lugs 9, the faces of the free ends of which lie in a plane substantially parallel with the main body of the member. The lugs pass through a perforation in the blade 10 and slots in the supporting - member 3 pivoted in the usual handle 1, and engage the countersunk faces 18 of the slots by a limited sliding movement. The lugs 9 may be struck up from the clamping-member 6, Fig. 8. To hold the guard or stropping - attachment securely, each is provided at its rear end with a transverse groove which is engaged by a transverse rib 13 on a spring 11 secured to the shank of the supporting-member; or the lugs may have projections on the underside which engage with depressions 17 in the faces 18; or both of these locking-devices may be used.
