Abstract

11,300. Jouffret, H. V. J. May 11, 1910, [Convention date]. R o t a r y cylindrical valves.-In an internalcombustion engine a rotary inlet and exhaust valve controlling a port c comprises a main body portion a having recesses in which are e arranged sliding pieces a<1> pressed outwards by springs which are e formed with or placed behind them. Apertures a<2> lead to the space behind the pieces a' so that the pieces are pressed outwards by the gases in the cylinder during the compression and working strokes. Spring packing-rings are arranged on the bearing portions of the valves, and these rings may embrace the sliding pieces a<1>, so as to hold them in place when the valve is removed from its seating.
