Secondary disazo dyes are obtained by combining the diazo compound of an aminodiphenylether or a sulphonic or disulphonic acid thereof or a homologue of one of these bodies with an amine of the benzene series, 1-naphthylamine or a sulphonic acid thereof so as to obtain paminoazo compounds, rediazotizing, and combining the diazoazo compound with 2-naphthol, a sulphonic, disulphonic, or carboxylic acid thereof, or 2:6- or 2:7-dioxynaphthalene. The following components are specified:-2-aminodiphenylether, 4-aminodiphenylether, 2-aminodiphenylether-4- or-4'-sulphonic acid, 2-amino-21- methyldiphenylether-4-sulphonic acid, 4-aminodiphenylether-2- or-4'-sulphonic acid, 4-amino- 2<1>- or-4<1>-methyldiphenylether-2-sulphonic acid, 4-aminodiphenylether-2 : 4'-disulphonic acid ; aniline, m-toluidine, p-xylidine, 3-amino-4-cresolmethylether, 1-naphthylamine, 1-naphthylamine- 6- or-7-sulphonic acid; 2-naphthol, 2-naphthol-6- or-7-sulphonic acid, 2-naphthol-3:6-disulphonic acid, 2:7-dioxynaphthalene. The products dye wool red to blue shades in acid baths.
