9547. Shepard, J. A. April 19. Baths.-Comprises self-sustaining gear for hoist ing-apparatus in which the normally stationary member of an epicyelic or other train of gearing is allowed a limited movement, such movementbeing utilized to apply a brake when the driven shaft overruns the driving-shaft. The casing is made oil-retaining, and a dash-pot 18 is provided to prevent chattering of the brake.
