Abstract

8232. Manzel, A. W. April 1. Lever-actuated pumps in series; stroke, varying; assembling parts.- A lubricating - pump is designed so that the pumping - mechanism may be easily detached from the oil vessel, and so that the stroke may be varied. There are two pump chambers 12, 23, the pistons of which are operated from the same shaft and eccentric 36, 37. The lower pump delivers through a tube 28 and sight - feed glass 31 to the main pump cylinder 12. The upper pump piston 35 is driven directly from the eccentric by the forked member 38, while the lower piston 34 is driven through an arm 48. This arm may be varied in position by the screw 39, which is turned from the outside of the oil vessel by the head 45. A slotted tube 46 and pin 47 allow for reciprocation. By varying the angular position of the arm 48, the position of the stroke of the piston 34 may be altered relatively to the suction port 58, so that the effective delivery stroke is varied, thus varying the delivery to the main cylinder 12.
