[Cognate Application, 19,836/11.] Spring wheels with continuous outer rigid ring and rubber-ring and like cushions.-A rigid outer rim a, Fig. 1, of inverted channel section is connected to the wheel centre by a transverse elastic diaphragm with a thickened and hard centre e and similar edges b. The arrangement shown may be reversed, the centre being secured to the rim. The edges are bevelled and secured by a combination of flange plates c and bevelled rings d with transverselyprojecting screwed studs f. The centre may be secured between disks with grooved edges, or by clamping it between two conical rings which brace the ends of spokes. Inwardly-extending brackets on the rim may be connected by rods passing through apertures in the wheel centre. The edges and centre of the diaphragm are principally of canvas with some rubber, or of vulcanite; the suspensory part consists of one or more rubber sheets h, Figs. 10 and 13, with superposed rubber, ribs k, or it may be partly or wholly of flexible material.
