4192. Sykora, J. Feb. 18. Moulding sugar.-Sugar moulds are constructed of hollow sections through which heating or cooling agents are circulated so as to regulate the temperature of the sugar mass. Fig. 4 shows one form of apparatus in which the moulds are formed by zigzag sections E<a>, E<b>, &c. arranged within a rectangular box K and connected by pipes S<a>, S<b>, &c. to a supply of heating or cooling medium. In the case of low pressure, the box K may be constituted by the sections themselves, which are formed at the ends as indicated in dotted lines, and are forced together by screws &c. Fig. 6 shows a modification in which the moulds are formed by hollow plates E<i>, E<k>, &c., formed with hollow ribs f. The box K, Fig. 1, consists of two sections connected by bolts i, the sections being formed of a single piece as shown on the right-hand side of the Figure, or, as shown on the lefthand side, they may comprise separate upper and lower portions with a ring l arranged between them. The box K is mounted upon a truck t, and is provided with a cover m secured by bolts n, a removable bottom plate, and a funnel r. Wedges y clamp the mould sections within the box.
