Abstract
3220. Mills Equipment Co., and Lethern, A. A. Feb. 8. Equipments.-A military equipment comprises a waist-belt A having members B connected by slides B<1> with a brace members C consisting of a single strip C passing through a slot in a slide C<1> at the back. A strip D also passes through a slot in the slide C<1>, and is connected to the waist-belt by means of slides D' on tabs attached to the back of the belt. The ends of the strips D pass through slides on the bottom of the water - bottle carrier E and haversack F, which are provided with slides E<1>, F<1> and E<2>, F<2> at their forward and rear upper corners. The forward slides E<1>, F<1> are connected to tabs B<2> on the forward members B. The rear slides E<2>, F<2> are connected to sling members G, which pass through loops C<2> on the braces C and are detachably connected at their forward ends to studs G<2> on the members B by means of slotted plates G<1>; or a buckle and slide may be used. The length of the strips G can be varied by slides G<3>. Normally, the water-bottle and haversack occupy the positions shown in Fig. 1, but if it is required to use either, the corresponding strip D and sling G are released and the waterbottle &c. can then be brought forward into a convenient position for removal &c. The brace member C may be detached from the slides B', C' and connected to the water-bottle or haversack, the strip C being used as a plain sling to support them. Similarly, the sling members G may be used to support the waterbottle or haversack. As the slings G are half the width of the braces C, the ends are provided with adaptors H or H<2>, the former connected to the sling G by a slide H<1> and the latter permanently attached. The braces C may be formed of two separate lengths and the slide C dispensed with; or two separate lengths may be connected where they cross and also joined to the belt and water-bottle and haversack. The front members B may be replaced by additional carriers each having tabs B<2> to engage the haversack &c. Other equipments than the water-bottle and haversack may be supported in a similar manner.
