Abstract

2700. Johnson, J. Y., [Badische Anilin & Soda Fabrik]. Feb. 2. Aniline-black and like dyeing ; printing.- Brown shades are produced by oxidizing on the fibre nitro-p-phenylenediamine or a homologue thereof by means of a chlorate in presence of a vanadium compound, in the absence of sufficient mineral acid to combine with the whole of the p-diamine. Examples are given of a padding solution and a printing-paste. Glycerine and tartar emetic may be added to the mixture. White discharges may be produced by printing the fibre after such treatment with a reducing- agent; an example is given of a discharge paste containing rongalite C; coloured discharges may be produced by adding suitable dyes, such as basic dyes or sulphur dyes, to the discharge paste. Specifications 17,241/05, 10,189/09 and 10,190/09 are referred to. The Provisional Specification refers to the use of negatively substituted p-phenylenediamines in general.
