Abstract

10,190. Johnson, J. Y., [Badische Anilin & Soda Fabrik]. April 29. Aniline-black and like dyeing; printing.- Brown to black shades are obtained on fibrous material by oxidizing, bv means of a chlorate and a ferrocyanide, p-phenylenediamine, or a homologue or isomer thereof, with or without an amino - hydroxy compound, in the absence of sufficient mineral acid to combine with the greater part of the bases present. Brown shades are obtained with more dilute, and brown-black shades with more concentrated, solutions containing p-phenylenediamine; mphenylenediamine gives similar results, and mtoluylenediamine gives an olive-black. Glycerine-tartar emetic solutions may be added to the mixture, and white or coloured discharge effects may be obtained as described in Specification 17,241/05, for instance by means of a paste of sodium acetate, potassium sulphite, rongalite C, and gum thickening.
