Abstract

1038. Dyer, R. E. H. Jan. 14. Marching compasses.-A night-marching compass comprises a graduated disk 2 with a central sight-carrying arm 3 and two other arms 4, 5, which are so set in relation to one another that when using the central sight, the north star is viewed, the line between such central sight and the remaining sight gives the direction of march. A mirror may be used instead of one of the sighting-arms, and some star other than the north star may be sighted.
