Stamping; embossing.-A show-card is formed of a sheet of metal, attached to a sheet of cardboard or other compressible material a, Fig. 5, by a die c, Figs. 3 and 5, having cutting-edges and flat polished surfaces h. The flat surfaces are first varnished by a roller j, and treated with bronze powder by a roller m, whereby portions of the metal are bronzed and cut out, while depressions i in the die produce raised portions on the metal characters. The edges of the letters are forced into the cardboard &c. in the cutting-out process.
