Envelopes and the like, making.-Apparatus for use in the manufacture of envelopes, postal wrappers, &c. of the kind in which the gummed border of the closing-flap is provided with apertures, notches, or slits f, Fig. 3, having edges g of reduced thickness, as described in Specification 6941/15, [Class 146 (ii), Stationery], comprises a punch c, Fig. 1, having an adjacent surface e of conical, convex, or inclined form which coacts with a flat die b so as to reduce the thickness of the edges of the aperture &c. A channel k is provided between the punch and the surface e. Similar surfaces h are provided to reduce the thickness of the edge j of the flap.
