542. Campbell, A. U. Jan. 9. Levers, locking .-The gear-lever 1 of an automobile is secured in the neutral position by a pawl 11 connected by a link to a lock 7 in the handle controlled by a key 8. The lever 1 is hollow so that it may be fitted over, and secured to, an existing gearlever 2. The locking- device is specially applicable to levers moving in H or similar guides, the pawl engaging a recess in the tongue 5 dividing the guide-slots.
