[Addition to 343/11.] Aerial machines without aerostats; planes, construction of; cars; framework.-Relates to the type of machine described in the parent Specification provided with a hollow lenticular feathering. The feathering, as shown in Figs. 1 and 4, is constructed of pairs of laths b, which are placed under the upper and above the lower longitudinal frame members a of the body so that the canvas covering e may be formed as a cover in one piece and then laced over the framework. The laths b are connected by bridges c and stayed by struts b<2> and braces b<3>. Or the framework of the feathering may be constructed in a collapsible manner, as shown in Fig. 3. Hinged brackets b<0> are pivoted on the upright members of the body and are connected to a bridge piece c by pins c‹. The rear cross-bar d is fixed by a sliding bolt-d<0>. The body is strengthened by perforated plates of veneering wood f and is closed in by covers e'.
