Feed devices. - In a cylindrical grinding- machine, of the type in which the table carrying the work reciprocates past the grinding-wheel, and in which the grinding-wheel head is mounted on a transverse slide and fed towards the work by a fine hand or automatic feed E, the amount of feed being governed by index, an additional hand motion O is fitted upon a shaft H for the quick manipulation of the grinding- wheel head towards or away from the work. In order to put the quick hand-feed into operation, the normal hand or automatic feed E and its pinions D, Care unclutched from the feed shaft A, and the quick feed 0 is then free to operate on said shaft through the pinion B. The quick-feed shaft H is provided with an index pointer K, and a graduated micrometer disk M.
