Abstract

Joints.-Tubular members of hospital furniture &c. are connected by a junction - piece a, through which one tube x is passed, a n d having a branch a<1> into which the second tube y screws to clamp the tube x in place. A washer b with concave inner face and flat outer face is interposed between the members x, y, and an intermediate spring d may be used. A projection c<1> on a plug secured in the end of the member y passes through holes in the washer b and tube x. In a modification, the branch a<1> and tube y are not screw-threaded, the spring d is omitted, and the parts are held together by a wedge passing through a slot in the projection c<1> so as to clamp the member x between the washer and wedge. The connexion may be adapted to join three or more tubular members.
