When the nozzle is fully opened, a secondary supply of water is entrained by the friction of the stream beyond the point at which condensation is completed. The steam nozzle a is regulated by a spindle b, and the primary water supply is regulated by a valve o. The mixing-cone e discharges into a cone h, in which is the narrowest portion of the system of cones. When the steam nozzle is fully opened, the excess velocity of the jet from the nozzle h is caused to draw in water through the passage f and past the valve g, until the velocity of the combined stream in the cone l is just sufficient to overcome the back-pressure at n. The invention is shown applied to a double-tube injector.
