Abstract

22,129. R¾th, M. Sept. 27, 1909, [Convention date]. Parquetry.-A covering for floors, walls, ceilings, &c. consists of flat pieces of wood, preferably cut from carpenters' waste wood or tree branches, spaced slightly apart and with the interstices filled with a composition of magnesia cement, sawdust, asbestos, or like fibrous material, and colouring-matter. The grain of the wood is perpendicular to the surface. The blocks are laid on a thin layer of cement or asphalt, from which project pins 5, Fig. 5, engaging plain or undercut holes in the blocks. Instead of pins, the blocks may be formed with dovetail projections which engage grooves in the foundation. Slabs or plates may be similarly formed by using a suitable backing 4.
