Blast, controlling condition of.-The blast for use in apparatus for the manufacture of iron and steel, such as blast furnaces and converters, is drawn from outside the humid atmosphere immediately surrounding the plant, through chimneys 25 metres or more in height. The blast may be supplied either direct to the furnaces &c. or may be first dried in the usual manner.
