Abstract

19,319. Stevens, J. Aug. 20, 1909, [Convention date]. Buckles.-A buckle for securing straps, webbing, ropes, &c. without piercing the material comprises a principal link 5, Fig. 2, having three slots 6, 7, 8, a tongue-piece 9 placed beneath the slot 7 being formed integral with the link 5. A connecting-link 10 passes through the slot 7 before the tongue 9 is attached by brazing &c., and is kept in position by the tongue. One end of the strap is attached to the link 10, the other end being passed through the link and through the slots 6 and 8. The tongue-piece 9 may be removably attached to the link 5. Fig. 3 shows a buckle for use with webbing, the tongue 9 being suspended beneath the slot 7 and being provided with teeth 12 to grip the material. In a form, Fig. 4, for use with ropes, the tongue 9 is extended rearwardly to form a loop 13 engaged by a link 14, through which passes a lever 15 pivoted to the end of the link 10. By turning the lever 15 from one position to the other, the rope is fastened or released as desired.
