Abstract
18,315. Chavassieu, H. L. J. July 31, 1909, [Convention date]. [Addition to 26,155/08.] Proteid xanthates such as are described in the parent Specification are produced by treating certain proteids, for example casein, with alkali sulphocarbonates. The solutions, as also the mixed solutions of proteid and cellulose xanthates, are coagulable by ammonium sulphate and by diluted strong acids, such as sulphuric, hydrochloric, and nitric acids, giving threads, films, &c. The Specification as open to inspection under Section 91 (3) (a) describes also the production of mixed solutions by mixing a viscose solution with solutions of proteids in caustic alkali, these solutions being coagulable as before. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
