Abstract

103,653. Oman, E. Jan. 14, 1916, [Convention date]. Nitroso compounds are prepared by treating a solution of lignine sulphonic acid or its salts, obtained from waste sulphite-cellulose lye, with a nitrite and acid; the product is salted out from the reaction mass and may be used as a colouring- matter. Instead of lignine sulphonic acid, waste sulphite-cellulose lye may be used. Lignine sulphonic acid is prepared by precipitating a solution of a salt thereof with an acid, such as hydrochloric or sulphuric. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) describes also the use of nitrous acid or substances yielding it, for instance '' gaseous nitrous acid," in the process.
