Bending. -In a machine for doubling metal plates or sheets of large size, the work is placed on a table band is forced into the rolls d, d' by a bar k, connected by a pair of links m to levers n, which are operated by connecting-rods n<2> and cranks p<2> from a shaft p; the shaft p is connected by a clutch to a toothed wheel j<3> rotated from a motor g through gear j, j<1>, j<2>. The clutch is engaged by hand-levers t, and is released at the end of one revolution bv a grooved cam carried by the movable clutch sleeve. The rolls are continuously rotated from the wheel j<3> by gears e, e<1>, and the finished plate is guided by a curved plate a<1> and removed by a table carrying live rollers t<2>. The roll d<1> may be adjustable by screws c<2> and springs c<3> to suit the thickness of plate.
