Lathes.-elates to segmental gear for operating pinions in connection with work grips of machines for making vegetable-ivory &c. buttons, particularly machines of the kind described in Specification No. 20,903, A.D. 1898. In the form shown in Figs. 1 and 8, H represents the grip pinion, and G segmental gear adjustable on a rock-shaft E provided with an adjustable handle F and mounted in eccentric bushings C, D in brackets A, B. The bushings C, D have lateral bearing-flanges C<1>, D<1> with annulur flanges recessed to receive pins secured to the shaft E, and are provided with adjustable spring brakes. Split friction collars J, K are secured on the shaft E by screws J<1>, K<1>, and retained by rings L, M. Lugs on the eccentric bushings, and pins S, T on the brackets, project between pairs of lugs on the friction collars. A rock-shaft N below the shaft E carries a bar Q in the path of the handle F, and is arranged for operating clutch gears to permit one revolution of the main shaft of the machine. The handles F may be held off the bar Q by means of a spring pin or stop R. The grip pinion is held yieldingly on a screw provided with a spring and adjusting- nut as described in Specification No. 16,221, A.D. 1898, [Abridgment Class Printing, Letterpress &c.].
