Marking work for sewing.-For marking the position of button-holes on a pile of collar blanks, they are placed on a plate P provided with guides S, and the plate is then placed against guides R on a bed-plate A carrying the supports B for a cross-plate C, in which is mounted a shaft D carrying an eccentric D'. The eccentric works in the loop F of a plate E sliding on the supports B, and carrying, by means of springs B<1>, a bar G which has supports for as many pairs of needles L as there are button - holes to be marked. The needles L have angular shafts and are mounted on threaded pressure keys K passing through nuts in longitudinally adjustable plates having laterally adjustable slides. Springs 0 normally hold the needles up, but they are depressed, and at the same time rotated, when the eccentric D<1> is operated to first press the bar G on to the blanks, and then to press the plate E on to the keys K. The plates P for different sizes and shapes of collars have apertures P<1> for the adjusted needles. The central needles need not be adjustable, while a separate means may be used for pressing the blanks, in which case the bar G need not move down.
