Abstract

Gas exits.-A stopper A, screwed on the top of an accumulator, has a cup D in which rests a heavy ball E attached by a rubber cord F to a valve C, so that, if the cell be upset, the ball pulls the valve against a seat, preferably provided with a rubber washer, and thus prevents escape of acid. Either the ball E or the cup D is grooved to permit free escape of gas. If the cell is of celluloid, the stopper A may be in one piece therewith. A perforated cover may be screwed on the stopper.
