Abstract

13,959. Cartwright, J. T. June 9. Folding boxes; bands &c., strengthening.- The parts of collapsible cardboard boxes for wreaths, flowers, &c. are strengthened and stiffened by the application to them of slabs, bars, or strips of wood, veneer, metal, vulcanized fibre, &c., the arrangement being shown as applied to the box described in Specification 22,705/03. The hinged flaps each comprise a wood slab a hinged to the bottom or to a cardboard strip b. The ribs comprise wood slabs c connected by wire stitching &c. to the cardboard pieces d. To the underside of the bottom are secured strips f, similar strips h being attached to the underside of the loose lid g. The cords i for tying up the box are attached to the slabs a. In a modification, the hinged flaps are composed of cardboard pieces with an internal wood slab lying between them, the sides being formed in a similar manner.
