Field-tube superheaters. - In a superheater of the kind comprising a number of Field tubes inserted in the smoke-tubes of a boiler and connected at their outer ends to distributing - chambers, each chamber is divided into compartments b, each of which communicates with one of the Field tubes e. The steam may be led downwards through a chamber into the lowest compartment, from which it passes upwards through each Field tube in succession, or it may be led into the highest compartment and compelled to take a downward course through the tubes.
