Abstract
7531. Vandercook, F. E. June 23, 1909, [Convention date]. Straightening. - A rotary wire-straightener comprises a slotted tubular-ended rotary spindle a, which carries a peripherally grooved collar c, over which the wire d is drawn as it passes from one end to the other of the spindle. The spindle ends have conical bushings b, b<1>, which are loosely fixed by screws 2 so as to be adjustable endways. The collar is fixed by a screw to the spindle, so that the groove of the size to fit the wire is in alinement with the slots a' in the spindle; the grooves have convex bases. The spindle is fixed by a screw 8 to a hollow arbor f lubricated from cups 4, and rotated by a pulley f', and, in order that the non-rotating wire may be easily drawn through the apparatus, it is coated with oil received from the receptacle 6.
