7171. Erdozain, J. March 22. Capsules, applying.-In a capping-attachment for a bottling and capping machine of the type described in Specification 7877/92, the jaws 11 are hinged around an adjustable die 14 adapted to bear on the head of the cap whereby the point of operation of the jaws on the cap can be varied as required. The die and jaws are carried by a stem 9 which is inserted in the hollow spring-controlled plunger 2 of the machine. The jaws are adjusted with respect to the plunger by one or more washers 13, and with respect to the die by one or more washers 15. The jaws are pressed together by a spring 18 so as to grasp a cap before application. The entrance for the filling-liquid is shown at 29, and during the capping operation superfluous liquid escapes with the head of the machine around an extension 8 of the plunger.
