Abstract
5296. Anderson & Co., G., and Grice, A. G. March 3. Sawing.-A diamond circular saw is mounted on gantries in such a way that it can be moved to any point covered bv the gantries and cut a stone on all four sides without moving the stone. A bogie carriage 5 runs on rails on gantries 1, and is driven by a motor 6 through gearing 8, 9, 11, 12 and worms 15. Cross carriages 17 are traversed on the bogie by screws 18 driven from a motor 19 and worms 21. A frame 27 is adjusted vertically on guides 28 on the cross carriages 17 by screws 30, one of which is driven from a motor through gearing and drives the others through a chain and sprockets. The saw 23 is mounted in a turn-table 24 carried by the frame 27 and is driven by a motor 25 through gearing. The saw may be set parallel or at right-angles to, the gantries, being held by a catch 41. Reversible variable-speed motors are employed.
