The carriage i which carries, on a bracket i<1>, the traverse bar n for the threadguides is reciprocated along the fixed rails q by half-pinions e, f, oppositely rotated by spur - wheels b, c, and engaging respectively with racks g, h arranged side bv side on the carriage. Buffer blocks l, against which the bracket i<1> abuts at the ends of the traverse, are adjustably mounted on the fixed bar k and serve as cush ons to assist the reversal of motion and to diminish shock.
