4371. Mitchell, D. K. Feb. 22. Extincteurs.-In an automatic extincteur, of the kind in which the acid-bottle is broken by a spring-pressed plunger when a fusible connexion is melted by the heat of a fire, the acidbottle 5 is supported in a holder 4, and a weight or plunger 8, acted upon by a spring 9, is held in the inoperative position by a fusible pin 10, the operating-mechanism being mounted in a tube 11 outside the extincteur. The weight 8, when released, strikes a loose plug 6, which has a rubber washer 7, adapted to prevent escape of gas when the extincteur is in operation.
