Abstract

3761. CorthÚsy, J. H., CorthÚsy, J., and Dickson, W. K.-L. Feb. 15. No Patent granted (Sealing fee not paid). Working-fluid supply.-A motive fluid moving at high velocity for operating turbines and other motors is generated by bringing into contact with a flame, at the point of combustion, an auxiliary supply of air, and a water spray or supply of steam. In the apparatus shown in Fig. 3, gas issuing from a burns at the orifice c of the conical cap b which supplies the air. Round the cap b is formed a cap b', with baffles b<2>, in which the auxiliary supply of air is heated before passing to the passage e where it comes in contact with the flame. The water or water vapour is heated in the jacket i', which is fitted with baffles i<2> and passes into the flame by the passage h. Rotatable disk-valves b<3>, i<3> regulate the air and water supplied. Several simplified modifications are described.
