Condenser systems; multiple-effect apparatus.- In a centrifugal-ejector pump of the type in which a vacuum is produced in a chamber connected to the region 2 by water thrown into a tube 6 by a centrifugal wheel 5, the belt 7 is connected by a pipe 9 to a region in which a less degree of vacuum than that existing in the chamber 2 is required. In a modification, the belt 7 is divided into several parts each having a pipe 9, so that several chambers may be exhausted to different pressures with the same pump. The apparatus may be applied to a condenser system in which the air is separated from the injection water prior to its entrance into the condenser. The air from the separating-chamber is separated through the pipe 9, and the air outlet of the condenser is connected to the chamber 2. The application to a multiple-effect series of vacuum pans in a sugar-refining plant is also described. The chamber 2 is connected by a pipe 10. Fig. 3, with the condenser 12, which is connected with the last pan 13. The pipe 9 is connected to and exhausts air and gases from an intermediate pan 14.
