Abstract

29,196. Brassert, H. A., and Witting, A. G. April 4, [Convention date]. Separators for gaseous substances.-A device for cleaning blast - furnace gas comprises a chamber 9, the inlet pipe 8 of which enters tangentially and the outlet pipe 17 of which is flared at 18. Vertical or oblique ribs 19 are arranged on the walls in the region shown. The gas has a rotary motion in the region 16, and its velocity which is increased by the flare 18, is suddenly diminished on passing the mouth of the outlet 17. The dust is deposited between the ribs 19, and drops into the dust-outlet 22. Water jets may be arranged to spray into the region 16. Two or more such devices may be arranged in series, or may work in series with separators of known type.
