Selvedge shedding - mechanism.-In Bradford or cross-rod looms for weaving sateens &c., the selvedge motion is directly operated from two of the cross-rods A, by connecting leather strips E' secured between collars or nuts E on screws D to leather strips F fast to collars G on the shaft M that gives motion to the selvedge harness M<1>. The reverse motion is obtained by means of a spring H, and the screws D fit in tapped holes in the bosses of the actuating- levers B, B<1>, whereby the depth of shed may be varied. The selvedge motion may be operated' from other levers or from collars &c. on the cross-rods. By the connexions shown, a boat or one-and-two pick selvedge is obtained, and uy connecting the straps to the top and third cross-rods a three-and-two selvedge results.
