Abstract
2547. Hetherington, W. Feb. 4, 1909, [Convention date]. Clothes-props. - The t o p of a telescopic clothes-prop is provided with bearings 16, in which is pivoted an inverted U - piece, the arms 17 of which are turned up to form hooks to retain the clothes line. The bearings are enclosed by a cap 18 to prevent rust. The upper part 2 of the post slides in a band 3, secured to the lower part 1; and a band 4 on the upper part also slides about the lower part. The movement is effected by means of a handle 10, and is limited by stops 5, 6. On the part 1 are secured plates 11, the edges of which are turned up to form cam lugs 12. A tail 13 on the part 2 is straddled by a staple 14 so that it may flexibly slide up and over the lugs 12. Its upper end is bent to form a handle 15, whereby it may be detached from the lugs. The post is fastened to the ground by means of a plate 7 provided with a pin 8 and a footpiece 9.
