208,474. McFarlane, R. April 30, 1923. No Patent granted (Sealing fee not paid). Wire and like strainers. such as those used for straining the supporting cord of lawn-tennis nets comprise a ring C loosely mounted on the net post F and provided with a lug B to which is pivoted a lever A of the shape shown. A circumferentially grooved lug D to receive the cord &c. G, is provided on the lever, and, in the strained position, this lug falls on the inside of the vertical line through the pivot B<1>. The lever may be made in two parts, one screwing into the other or otherwise secured thereto at or near the lug D. Grip. ping-jaws may be used in place of the lug D.
