Abstract

323,703. Dittmer, E., and Schranim, L. May 1, 1929. Hooks, automatic-release. - A tow hook is held by a bar, the fastening element containing an explosive charge and being adapted to be freed by explosion of the charge automatically on the tug attaining a dangerous list. The tow hook 5, Fig. 2, has an arm 7 normally held by screw 11. The latter is attached to a un.it which is anchored at 10 and which comprises two members 8, 9, Fig. 1, secured to a central block 12 which is adapted to hold an explosive. Resistance wires 18 for exploding the charge are connected by leads 20 with a battery 26, Fig. 3, through either a hand switch 32, or an automatic switch such as a pendulum or a horseshoe tube containing mercury and having leads 28 for co-operation with an adjustable slide 31.
