Abstract

2344. Taylor & Co., P. W., Taylor, P. W., and Stephenson, B. Jan. 3]. Venting-apparatus.-Relates to a screw-stopper for jars &c. of the type having a valve for admitting air or for relieving excessive pressure. The stopper A is fitted with a central spring plunger B having a rubber ring J forming the valve. The stopper is recessed at M around the plunger head. In the form shown in Fig. 1, the plunger B is depressed to open the valve. In the form shown in Fig. 2, the plunger B is pulled upwards by hand, or is forced up automatically by the internal pressure. The diameter of the stem of the plunger B is such that it can be withdrawn from the stopper if the ring J is first removed. Recesses K, Fig. 2, are formed to engage a stopper-key.
